Metal Tag Bracelet

Continuing with the theme of jewelry, I have a second bracelet made for the “Artist in Residence” Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Design Team using their new metal dog tags.

Enjoy following along with this step-by-step picture tutorial.

Instructions

Apply droplets of ink from StazOn Wide Mouth Bottles
(Blazing Red, Vibrant Violet and Teal Blue)
to a metal dog tag using Ink Droppers.
Mottle the ink by pouncing it with
a small piece of an InkBlusher.  Let dry.
Punch a hole on the opposite end to match the pre-fabricated hole.

Apply a few drops of Matte GlazOn to an
InkBlusher and gently dab the surface of the colored tag.
Let dry.

Stamp Paisley Swirls (Penny Black) on the dog tag in Cotton White StazOn Opaque.
Let dry.

Remove the blue protective backing from back of the tag.
Bend the piece to add a slight curve.

Finish the bracelet by adding assorted beads with elastic cording.

Thank you for sharing your time with me!

Smiles,
Elizabeth

Flower Charm Bracelet

Recently I created a few pieces of jewelry as “Artist in Residence” projects for Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko and I am excited to share them with you this week.

Today’s piece uses shrink plastic stamped with flowers in StazOn Ink to make the charms for this bracelet.

Here is how to create this wrist adornment:
  1. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for preparing shrink plastic.
  2. Stamp circular flower elements (Wishes by Penny Black) on the prepared shrink plastic using Ultramarine StazOn ink.  Immediately clean stamps after use.
  3. Let the stamped impressions dry for approximately 5 minutes.
  4. Die cut the stamped circles using Spellbinders Standard Circles.
  5. Punch a 1/8” hole on each side of the plastic circle.
  6. Heat the shrink plastic circles according to the manufacturer’s directions.
  7. Link the circles with jump rings, beads and finish with a clasp.

I will have a second piece later this week that has Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko’s new metal dog tags!

Thank you for visiting,

Elizabeth

From Stamp to Epoxy Embellishment

I love the look of epoxy and the high gloss finish it lends to projects.  While making this gift tag, I infused the layers with multiple coats of embossing powder to capture that lacquer effect.

This project went together fabulously quick since Penny Black’s Round and Round is a perfect match with Spellbinders Standard Circles!  A few added fussy cuts and paper piercings gave the pieces a laser cut design.

Instructions:
  • Stamp Round and Round on white cardstock with Opera Pink VersaColor.  Heat emboss with clear powder.  Trim the outside edge with scissors and fussy cut the diamonds with a craft knife.  Paper pierce the small dots.
  • Pounce a Frost VersaMark ink pad directly onto the design to coat the image.   Sprinkle with clear embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set.  Repeat this step two more times or until the desired thickness of melted embossing powder has been reached
  • Die cut circles from white cardstock to match the center and middle layers.  Follow the same procedure above to create the next two layers.  The middle layer is stamped in Orchid VersaColor and the top layer in Opera Pink.
  • Layer the pieces with dimensional foam and accent with a gem.  This crystal gem was colored with a Copic marker (RV 17) to coordinate with the project.
Tip/Hint:  This project can also be adapted to create holiday tree ornaments or jewelry.

Stamped Necklace Pendant

A while ago a friend had given me a box of microscopic slides and I have been anxious to work with them as I had an idea for a jewelry design.

This week I dismantled an old watch with the intention of using the gears as accents, but I ended up fascinated with the spring mechanism and how it uncoiled into this metal embellishment.

The pendant is a layered stack consisting of one microscopic slide, black cardstock, stamped white cardstock and topped with the final microscopic slide.  Copper Memory Foil Tape was used to create the faux soldering and tubing.  To give it a burnished look, Stone Gray StazOn was randomly applied to the foil.

The artwork is a section of Penny Black’s Eternal stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink on white cardstock and very lightly colored with Memento Inks applied with sponge daubers.

A black brad was placed in the top coil as an accent while one of the watch gears was positioned under the bottom coil.  Glossy Accents held the gear in place and while the glue was wet, crystal glitter was sprinkled on top.

These also make lovely window accents.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend,
Elizabeth
