These Penny Black chicks were originally marching in a single line.  I couldn't help myself from repositioning them to create a tower of holiday delight.

Happy Easter (Stamp Tailoring)

Mo Manning’s illustration for Penny Black’s You Are A Peach instantly had me thinking of all the little things this girl could be carrying.

With Easter just around the corner, I "tailored" her finding a holiday basket filled with treats.  The peach was substituted with the basket from Spring Day and a bunny from Sweet Dreams.

A subtle pattern of hydrangeas from Flower Festival was stamped in Habanero VersaFine on the Summer Sun cardstock.  The Rose Garden cardstock was rubbed with Love Letter Memento and the soft glow on the white cardstock is Peanut Brittle Memento.

Tip/Hint:  Enhance the depth of elevated elements on a card by using different thicknesses of dimensional foam.  In this sample 1/16th inch foam was used between the card base and the Rose Garden cardstock and 1/8th inch foam elevates the fussy cut girl.

Easter Treat Tags

With Easter just around the corner I am preparing a few little basket treats.

These foiled wrapped trail mix bars were the perfect color to decorate with bunny tags. 

No die cuts required!  The frame from the Sweet Wishes set was stamped in black with Warm Wishes stamped for the background.  After trimming you have an instant tag!  The bunny and sentiment are from Spring Day.

Tip/Hint:  To convert a horizontal sentiment into a two-part stacked phrase, simply cut the acrylic stamp in half.

Teeny Tiny Easter Tags

These are a few gift tags and mailing boxes I created for Easter goodies.

I made the tags very vibrant so they would stand out when tied to clear cellophane treat bags.  All the different colored ribbons were created from plain organdy ribbon colored with Copics.  Even after coloring, the ribbon keeps its original sparkle and shine!



Tag sizes:  1 x 1 5/8, 1 ¼” Sq., 1 ¼ x 1 3/4



The tags were modifications of Cuttlebug Sliders (basket with chick), Paper Punches (chick in the egg) and Spellbinders Circle (cabbage bunny) Nestabilities.  A slot punching tool also made it easy to add decorative holes for the ribbons.

I also mixed up the backgrounds used for each tag:  stamped Paisley Outline, simple white gel pen dots and ink distressing.

And, for goodies that are being mailed, the sides of little white mailing boxes were festively stamped with the grass from Sweet Home in Olympia Green VersaFine ink.

Easter Joy

This week’s challenge on the Penny Black Blog is all about “glitter”.    

This is my sparkly interpretation---- 

The base of the card was created from Fern Green cardstock and stamped with Majestic Composition in Pear Tart Memento ink.  I love these large background stamps.  They add such a nice textural design.

Butterfly Suite and Sparkle were stamped twice on watercolor paper with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear powder.  I wanted double impressions so I could have an extra set of butterflies and the center of the flower for layering.

After water coloring the images, I cut a small opening in the music collage and popped it up on foam tape to create a window to view the sentiment.

Here comes the “glittery” part of the challenge……

Wonder Tape was used around the edge of the white cardstock to hold the ultra-fine crystal glitter.  Before attaching the flower and butterflies to the card they were sprayed with Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

To bedazzle the center of the flower, I applied Yellow, Fruit Punch and Lavender Stickles.

Welcome to Day 4 of my design week on the Penny Black Blog here.  I had a great time and I hope you enjoyed the challenge.

Here is my final project.  A small Easter tag.

Did you happen to notice that during the whole week I used the sentiment from "Easter March"?  I used the full phrase on Day 3 and for the other days I used bits and pieces.  It's like getting four stamps in one!!

More "fussy" cutting, watercoloring and dimensional foam.  If you are wondering how I got the texture on the little tan strip, it is made from stamped impressions of the bristles from a hedgie!

Curved rectangle Nestabilities were the perfect size to create this framed window card.  I made a second layer of the flowers with the bunny and the top part of the pot so I could pop it up on dimensional foam.

Wishing You (Day 2 of Design Week Challenge)

Welcome to Day 2 of my design week challenge for the Penny Black Blog.

Continuing with the challenge theme of Easter, here is my second card...

I actually stamped the image on watercolor paper and trimmed.  I didn't use any dimensional foam, but attached it directly to the card over a previously stamped image that I used for alignment.  The sentiment is from "Easter March" and was separated into two parts.  The remaining portion - "a very happy Easter" - is stamped on the inside.

Happy Easter (Day 1 of Design Week Challenge)

Hello Everyone.

This week I am designing for the Penny Black blog and hosting a challenge.  I will have a new card Monday through Thursday incorporating the challenge theme of "Easter".  You can read all about the challenge here and on how to enter your creative masterpieces for a chance to win great prizes.

Today's card features Penny Black's new slapstick stamp "Easter March" and a fun transparent set called "Trims".  Just to warn you - you will be seeing me use the wave pattern quite a bit.  After one impression I was hooked.

I love to "fussy" cut so of course I couldn't resist trimming this cute hedgie and Easter cart after he was water colored.  The dots on the Easter egg are accented with white foam paint.

If you haven't seen the new cardstocks by Penny Black you can take a peek here in their latest spring catalog.  Aren't the colors great?!  The tritone color sets make mixing and matching a snap!
