....this week's challenge of backgrounds.
I began by randomly stamping Butterfly Suite on white cardstock with Bamboo Leaves ink. Over the stamped design, I rubbed in Mustard Seed and Broken China Distress inks.
Before proceeding to the next step which involved heat embossing, I dusted the cardstock with an anti-static pouch so the embossing powders would release cleanly. To test that the static had been removed, I poured embossing powder on top of the cardstock and tapped it off. There was a tiny bit that was still clinging to the paper which I wiped off and then dusted the cardstock again with the anti-static pouch.
Special Time (birthday sentiment) was stamped in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear powder.
Lace-Edged was stamped with VersaMark Watermark ink and heat embossed with white powder. At the end of the project, Crystal Stickles were added.
The butterfly was stamped twice on watercolor paper with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear powder. The images were water colored and then trimmed.
The smaller wing is positioned on top of the full image and glued in just a few places. This allowed room to insert a small stylus and plump up the image. Only the antennae of the butterfly were stamped on the base of the card.
I added a small purple strip under the left side of the matted image which was stamped with the music notes from Butterfly Suite with Grape Jelly ink. Not much shows, but it adds a nice bit of visual interest.
I had a bit of distressed cardstock left after trimming my original design, so I made this little embellishment for the inside of the card.
