Random Acts of Bookmark Art

Our local library always offers unique and interesting events throughout the year and this one is no exception.  Currently they are asking patrons to submit artfully made bookmarks that will be randomly hidden in books during the summer.  Readers who find the bookmarks will either be “gifted” the art or they can choose to leave it in the book for someone else to discover.  I envision scenes similar to Charlie finding a golden ticket in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!

After reading the guidelines about appropriate size and book-friendly mediums, I created this 3 x 5 ¼ bookmark.  While working on my project, I had so much fun wondering where it might be placed (maybe in the children’s section?), who would find it, and if I might come across one myself!

What a great way to create enthusiasm for reading in children.  And, as an adult, who wouldn't enjoy a "Golden Ticket" moment themselves?!

Off to create a few more....
